Last week I got good news from my client Aditya (name changed) that all his credit card debt and personal loans stand extinguished.
Aditya casually and gradually had slipped into this vicious cycle of debt, splurging money beyond his means, often taking the route of debt to meet his desires, be it a 12lac worth superbike or living in a house he could barely afford.
While most of the blame for such situations goes to the individual, we can’t ignore the fact that the advertising industry has come a long way in identifying people’s trigger points and exploiting them to create demand for products.
Even the most stoic customers occasionally fall into their traps and buy products or services that are just vanity.
In such a hostile environment, financial prudence is of utmost importance.
We must be mindful of our budgets and evaluate every purchase, whether it is bona fide or just an impulsive buy for attaining temporary bliss.
A well-lived life is made up of numerous pleasant moments & these beautiful memories require things beyond material wealth.
There is nothing wrong with acquiring material wealth or picking up some debt for the desired life. But if we don’t make enough happy memories or a meaningful impact during the short time that we have, we really haven’t known true joy.
There are three statements that I want each of us to think and ponder about, which I believe are required for a truly joyful life:
– Having true friends that we can rely on or loved ones who care for us unconditionally are assets that bring us more joy than material wealth.
– Having a clean bill of health, both physical and mental, contributes toward a fulfilling and stress-free life.
– Moving forward with a sense of purpose in life and understanding the divinity of your own creation brings satisfaction to the soul.
These are the things that bring us true joy in life when we meet these basic requirements for sentimental attachment, self-reflection, and healthy living.
